Mistakes people commonly make when washing their brushes.
I have seen a make up artist recommending people to use a hair dryer on their brushes if they want them to dry quickly. I hope people don't follow her lead as this is an ultimate no-no. If you use a hair dryer on your make up brushes you can damage the glue that's holding the hairs in. This means that more hairs will start falling out from your brush.
Other sources have recommended using alcohol to keep the brushes clean. Long terms this is going to ruin the shelf life of the brushes. Some sources even say leave the brushes over night standing in the alcohol. This is a bad idea because it can cause a hardening of the hairs. I would not use alcohol, on make up brushes except for in between clients I will use a spray to keep the brush sanitary. If your make up brushes are for your own personal use I recommend that you don't use any alcohol on them at all and this will keep them much longer.
Also it is a bad idea to leave make up brushes in any liquid over night. It is very bad advice people are getting about this. People try to take all these quick fixes to wash them quickly but it does ruin the shelf life.
Finally- make up artists can recommend you to do all these different techniques when washing your brushes but it is not necessary. Just keep it very simple and you cannot go wrong.
